City of Rock Rapids COVID-19 Response – March 13

Dear Residents,

In continuing to prioritize the health and safety of all Rock Rapids community members, the City of Rock Rapids in collaboration with Health Services of Lyon County in an effort to prevent the spread of all illnesses in community gatherings, are going to establish social distancing practices for non-essential community events for the next two weeks.  We will continue to work closely with public health to evaluate when non-essential activities will resume.

The City of Rock Rapids and Health Services of Lyon County wants to remind community residents you can protect yourselves from COVID-19 and other illnesses by:

1. Staying home if you are ill and avoid community gatherings.  Older adults and those with chronic health conditions should stay away from others who are sick, by avoiding crowds and limiting close contact with others.

2. Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  Use an alcohol-based sanitizer as an alternative

3. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces, in addition to avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
