Investing in the next generation, authentic learning takes place here.
Our community understands that a balanced life starts with a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Rock Rapids is home to the Central Lyon Community School District, which aims to provide an education and the opportunity for all students to become productive, life-long learners.
Students are engaged in learning and are encouraged to discover ways they can contribute to the world’s work.
Central Lyon Community School District is centrally located in the community of Rock Rapids and serves nearly 800 students in grades Pre-School – 12. The students and staff of Central Lyon have much to be proud of, including but certainly not limited to our updated facilities and 1:1 technology program. Our buildings are clean, safe, and equipt with all the necessary tools and instructional resources to promote high expectations in the classroom. In recent years, the students of Central Lyon have scored above state averages on both the Iowa Assessment tests and the ACT. Our graduation rates are exceptional and those choosing to enter the workforce or attend a post-secondary institution after high-school are doing so with great confidence.
Central Lyon also offers a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities for students, including athletics, activities, clubs, and organizations. Whether it be in the classroom or the extra-curricular environment, the students of Central Lyon are pushed to reach their utmost potential on a daily basis. As a district, we are fortunate to enjoy smaller class sizes to address both whole group and individual student needs. Teacher leaders are also readily available to provide any additional support. With the help of a well-qualified and supportive staff, our students are provided exceptional learning experiences that supply them with strategies to be successful in their future endeavors.
