The legacy of the late Herb McCormack keeps on truckin’ in this mural. In 1931, while still in high school, McCormack purchased his first truck. He hauled livestock in the summer and hired someone to drive during the school months. In 1937, he purchased interstate rights from another carrier to haul freight. Throughout the years, he continued to purchase interstate commerce commission rights, enlarged his fleet and expanded his service territory. McCormack retired in 1994. He also enjoyed restoring old trucks and cars; the panel truck in the mural was one of his favorites. man. Popcorn and conversation went together on a pleasant summer evening and it was also a time for children to see friends and enjoy a spontaneous game of pass and catch.
